England B Call Up for
Shrewsbury Sam.
Sam Lewis was selected for the
England under 16B team to represent his country in the forthcoming
International rugby festival that will held at Millfield School,
Somerset in April.
They will have the opportunity to
play against:
England A, Wales A, France, Scotland, Georgia, Canada.
It has been a very tough process:
County selection
Nth Midlands selection.
Midlands selection
England.
The standard has got better and
better at every level.
The vast majority of players are associated to a rugby academy and quite
a few have parents who played professionally as well!
Sam is still keen to play for Shrewsbury and contacts his friends at
Shrewsbury under16's. He is hoping to play in the 7's tournament at
Newport in April.
In addition it is important to mention that Graham Kitchener, formerly
of Shrewsbury, has been selected for the England 1st team. He has the
opportunity to travel to Italy and France!
I would like to personally thank
Rae Evans for all the help she has given Sam and Tim Harris, his coach
for being so understanding when he isn't available all the time.
Many thanks
Simon

Plaudits for Jeff:
This note is from
Birmingham Solihull
Please forgive the
informality of this note but I wanted to to thank all of the
Shrewsbury party at the game last Sunday.
As you know one of our
lads suffered a serious injury (broken tibia, plastered no pinning
needed).
Your first aiders
responded immediately with help providing us with the necessary
knowledge and equipment to help keep the lad warm and as comfortable
as possible until the ambulance arrived - which took an age.
Your chaps, along with
ours, stayed with him until he was taken to hospital.
This was a rather
distressing episode as Dean was obviously in a lot of pain and his
pulse was dropping. The help from the Shrewsbury guys in taking
control certainly ensured that Dean had the best assistance under the
circumstances.
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank you all for your help it was greatly appreciated.
I spoke to Rob in
particular after the game and I repeat my heartfelt disappointment in
the way that the Shrewsbury lads lost.
Although I missed half of
the 2nd half I know that your lads came well back to draw level only
to lose to a penalty that was the last kick of the game.
Once again many thanks for
the help and kindness shown to Dean and may I wish your lads a
successful and enjoyable remainder of the season.
Regards.
